Our region
Authentic flavours
From chestnut honey to high-altitude EVO oil through to delicious Ricciolina, the typical cake of Abbadia, our region is full of gourmet flavours waiting to be tasted. Start with the ones we have on display for you right here, at Amiata Suite
Abbadia San Salvatore
Amiata Suites is located in the centre of Abbadia San Salvatore, a stone’s throw from the historical village, the Mining Museum and the Abbey of the Holy Savior (Salvatore) after which the little town takes its name. Abbadia is the largest village of Mount Amiata, your best base to explore the surrounding villages, the nearby Val D’Orcia and Maremma. Highly recommended the traditional bonfire night (Notte delle Fiaccole) that happens in Abbadia on Christmas Eve, when the thirty tall pyramid pyres built in early December in the towns’ districts are lit creating a magical atmosphere.
Monte Amiata
Cool summers, snowy winters, nature at its finest, hot thermal waters, spectacular views. Enjoy Mount Amiata all year round. Choose your best activity out of the million things you can do. Trekking, jogging, cycling, horseback riding; mushroom hunting, chestnut, oil and grape harvesting; resting, unwinding, relaxing. Amiata is your mountain escape.
Val d'Orcia
From Abbadia you can easily reach Val D’Orcia (Valley of Orcia), one of the most beautiful South Tuscan regions. Boasting a perfectly manicured landscape, Val D’Orcia is made up of gentle rolling hills, cypress lined roads, charming hilltowns, tiny hamlets and imposing medieval fortresses. Once celebrated by Renaissance painters, Val D’Orcia today is protected as an artistic, natural and cultural Park designated a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 2003. A piece of countryside heaven you will not want to miss out.
Hot Spring Waters
Make sure you visit the most amazing natural pools of this charming part of Tuscany. Let your mind unwind and your body relax in the wild thermal pools of Bagni San Filippo, only 10 minutes drive from Amiata Suite. The hot springs bubble out of the ground at 48°C and are rich in calcium, magnesium and sulphur bicarbonate. You may also explore the warm natural waters of Bagno Vignoni and San Casciano dei Bagni, only 30 minutes away.
